SNAP allows families to deduct housing & utility costs that exceed 50% of the family’s net income. With the new proposed rule the federal government would now set its own state allowances by standardizing the method for calculating standard utility allowances. The non-profit organization “Bread for the World” shared a Route Fifty article where their policy analyst, Jane Adams spoke out against the proposed standardization.
