100% Compliance for Expedited Face-to-Face Interviews

The Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 included several access provisions about SNAP enrollment including establishing a 30-day processing standard and inception of the concept of expedited service. On the CalFresh application, these questions determine if a client must receive expedited benefits.

To simplify these questions, our application separates these concepts into shorter questions and asks about income separately. By making the questions easier to understand, we increase the accuracy of screening for expedited status.

Based on the answers to these four questions, we programmatically determine if a client receives expedited status. After they complete the application questions, they are prompted to select an interview time within 72 hours from their application date.

In December and January, 100% of our expedited clients who selected a face-to-face interview were scheduled within 72 business hours of their application date. The video below shows an expedited client completing the application and attending the interview 48 hours later.

This process allows clients to choose the best time that works for them within the compliance window for expedited cases.
